A Supposedly Fun Thing I’ll Never Do Again – Essays and Arguments

Author: David Foster Wallace

I’ve never been so instantly in love with an author’s work as with Foster Wallace’s. Though I still haven’t finished Infinite Jest, I urge everyone to at least try to get into his work and this essay collection is a good place to start. His prose style is clear, elegant, and clever, without being self-enamoured (I’m looking at you, Ian McEwan and Jonathan Franzen). He will make you laugh, he will make you go over one sentence again and again; maybe he will even make you cry. Most definitely he will leave you with the feeling that even a devastating truth is something beautiful to behold when seen through his words. Go, read.
